Appalachian Apparel Company (#AppAppCo) was created in 2017 as a way to highlight the local artists, the rich culture of Appalachia, and it’s people. By partnering with local artists, Appalachian Apparel Co. works to create unique t-shirt designs you can’t find anywhere else, hand-printed on the softest, most comfortable wares available. By keeping the production and screen printing in-house, AppAppCo is able to offer superior quality items, customer service, and personal attention to our customers at competitive prices, lower than the competition.
Starting out as a small hobby setup in their garage, owners Joey and Leslie McKenney quickly established and grew their online presence and social media reach. Less than a year later, the McKenney’s purchased a building in downtown Hazard, Kentucky to set up production and open Appalachian Apparel’s flagship brick and mortar storefront. Two short years later, Appalachian Apparel and Gifts – Pigeon Forge, was opened in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains at the Tower Shops of Mountain Mile.
From it’s inception, Appalachian Apparel has been tightly involved in multiple community outreach endeavors, fundraising for individuals, schools, businesses, and disaster relief. Growing up in the community they operate in, the team at Appalachian Apparel is always striving to help lift up, build up, and support the people of Appalachia.
Other than their own brand, AppAppCo also provides custom screen printing to organizations, businesses, sport teams, and more as well as offering full team uniforms, workwear, business attire, letterman jackets, and more.

It is the mission of Appalachian Apparel Company to provide the best possible customer experience, superior quality products, and friendly faces to everyone. We strive to paint a positive narrative about the Appalachian region, the culture, the history, and the people and to spread that narrative worldwide. We are dedicated to our community and the people within it, as well as the betterment of people, worldwide. We believe that the only thing that limits our dreams, is the limits we place on ourselves. We believe in personal growth on every level, empowerment of every person (and dog), and we believe in exceeding the expectations of quality, customer service, and life. Our purpose is to encourage, support, and push everyone to become the best possible version of themselves that they can be. If you keep putting good into the world, the world HAS to become a better place. Some say we dream too big, we say they think too small.
